What a surprise, I've fallen behind on my blogging...I'm shocked I tell you, SHOCKED!! Anyway, I was watching the news and they were talking about George Clooney going to the UN and pleading for more aid to be sent to Sudan. I can't hate on him for caring. However, I can hate on the fact that nobody cares about Sudan until some famous white person like Clooney or Bono or A. Jolie comes along and talks about it. This is highly offensive because it is as if to say that the problems Africans face are inconsequential if not acknowledged by some celebrities. People are dying! I mentioned Sudan, but the issue is relevant to all African nations in a state of conflict or crisis, including our very own. And what about the thousands of unknown activists and people working on a regular basis on the front lines who are not famous? Is their work not just as valid? Frankly, the whole thing sickens me. They treat Africa as a joke, and personally, as an African, I truly resent it. After a history of colonialism, the continent has been sucked dry and now they turn to us with that same old colonial mentality and say, why is Africa in such a terrible state, well because the Africans are savages of course! FURY AND FRUSTRATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
